The Pokemon are back, and it’s time to catch them all! A pretty significant part of our childhoods, Ash and his Pokemon stayed with us through the light and the dark. There were a multitude of different creatures, each one bizarre and beautiful in its way. And there was Ash, an aspiring trainer looking to catch them all and become a Pokemon Master.
A Spin on The Original
Hollywood took the challenge and made this lovable Japanese-English cartoon into reality two years ago with its rendition, Detective Pikachu. Tim is a teenage boy, living in grief and frustration, looking to find out who killed his father. His days and nights go into puzzling about his father’s death until ‘he’ comes along. The loyal companion we’ve all seen in the cartoons on TV. The Pokemon with the adorable noises but terrifying thunderbolts. In came Pikachu. Or should we say, Detective Pikachu?
Ryan Reynolds voices the adorable Pikachu, which is a bizarre sight to witness in itself. Pikachu is annoying yet cute, pestering yet sweet and he’s out to help Tim discover the truth behind his father’s ‘death’. Together they embark on a perilous journey through the streets of San Diego, looking for answers.
A possible sequel already in the works??
If the first movie thrilled you, you would be happy to hear that a sequel is already underway. The production and writing of the second movie house Oren Uziel, the creative behind Sonic the Hedgehog and Men in Black: International.
The first movie aired on May 8th 2020 and speculation has arisen that the sequel could be scheduled for the same slot too. The movie is set to receive Justice Smith and Ryan Reynolds, ready to reprise their roles as Tim Goodman, Pikachu and Harry Goodman. Other roles include journalist Kathryn Newton and Detective Yoshida. There have been no official announcements as of yet, nor have there been any post-credit reveals. So our best hope would be to, wait it out.
