The Witcher is a fantasy drama that focuses on a monster hunter who eventually comes around the fact that people are more wicked than beasts.
Witchers are essentially magic-induced monster hunters. They have been transmuted on the genetic level using various elixirs and magic to have, among other things, Superhuman strength, reflexes, and senses. Due to their genetics being modified, they can handle potions usually toxic to normal humans.
The Netflix series is an upshot of the games making the franchise popular among a worldwide audience. The series is supposed to follow the books instead of the games so there will be differences in artistic choices.
For those who are not aware, there already exists a Witcher TV series. It is a bit out-dated and was made way before the games came out. It is called the Hexer, and it is in Polish.
The production quality is irrational by today’s standards, and it was disparagingly panned when it came out as well. But for any witcher fan who needs a fix, it is not a bad watch. The casting of the characters, especially Geralt and Yennefer, is pretty good.
Witcher Season 2 Release
Unfortunately, there is no official release date for season two just yet, and without Yennefer’s magic to guide us, it is almost impossible to estimate the actual date of release. However, the production of the second season is believed to be started in the early days of 2020. Presumably, these new episodes will land sooner rather than later in 2021. Still, it’s also worth bearing in mind that there are a lot of wheels spinning here, including location shoots and complicated special effects.
Witcher Season 2 Cast
In a recent interview, Hissrich confirmed that Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan would all return for season two, which was to be expected given that they star in several books the show is based on. Which means we can expect to see a lot more of Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri when The Witcher returns in 2021, but who will be joining them? Netflix hasn’t revealed that as of yet, but what we can expect is plenty more CGI monsters along with a few nameless orgy participants along the way too.
