Dead to Me, an American black comedy TV series, became an instant hit after its premiere on May 3rd, 2019. The writer Liz Feldman wasted no time in renewing the series for a second season after its big hit. Feldman says, “What you’re watching in Dead To Me is very much through my lens – how I approach life. I’m a comedian, so my way of handling grief and loss is to feel it and go through it, but also to find the moments that are funny. Inevitably, there’s something funny in almost every dark thing. If you can find a way to laugh at it, we all know that that helps. It’s my coping mechanism.” And also added by saying that she would want to run this show for as many seasons as possible.
Cast:
The leads being Jen (Christina Applegate) and Judy (Linda Cardellini) from the previous season. Christopher (Max Jenkins), Jen’s youngest son Henry (Luke Roessler), Charlie (Sam McCarthy), Abe (Ed Asner), cop Nick (Brandon Scott).
There’s also investigation head, police detective Ana Perez (Diana Maria Riva), Karen (Suzy Nakamura), Pastor Wayne (Keong Sim), and Kayley (Haley Sims). And one of the newer faces being Natalie Morales, from shows like Parks and Recreation, Santa Clarita Diet, and Grace and Frankie.
Plot:
Season 1 ended with a huge cliffhanger of Judy’s ex-fiancee getting shot. But the writer hinted a different take on the situation in a recent interview. The plot is said to present a unique relationship between Judy and Jen. The show will explore the dark and light sides of grief, sorrow, forgiveness and friendship.
Trailer:
The trailer showed a tinge of dark humour, covering up the serious tones with comedy. It explored the unique relationship between Jen and Judy. It seemingly hinted that Judy was only the culprit of the hit-and-run case. The trailer depicted season 2 to be promising.
Speculations and Expectations:
Season 2 definitely brings humour to the table. There is much more to this show that just humour. The loyal fans can definitely expect a fun roller coaster of emotions. Newcomers to this show won’t be disappointed.
