The series indeed has been renewed for a 6th instalment. Pirates of Caribbean first debuted the entertainment industry on July 9, 2003, with Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Further on July 7, 2006, the series released its 2nd instalment Pirates of Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. Then next year on May 25, 2007, with its 3rd instalment, Pirates of Caribbean: At World’s End. Pirates of Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Pirates of Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales were released on May 20, 2011, and May 26, 2017, respectively.

Although the renewal for the sixth instalment was announced in 2017 no further updates have been given by the moviemakers yet. In October of the same year, Kaya Scodelario stated that she is contractually signed to return for a sixth film. Shortly after, it was confirmed that Rønning will direct the film.
