Spider-Man is one of the most popular superheroes and has a vast collection of movies, comics, cartoon series, and games. Yet, there is always a bit of confusion about the number of films devoted to Spider-Man.
There are three movies directed by Sam Raimi between 2002 and 2007. They were Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, and Spider-Man 3. A decade after another half came two more films directed by Marc Webb, The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014).
The next movie, Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), was directed by Jon Watts. The most recent release was the animated version, Spider-Man: Into the Verse (2018), directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman.
Therefore, there are eight Spider-Man movies in total.
Harry’s Death in Spider-Man 3
In the movie, Harry wrongly believes that the killer of his father is Spider-Man. After Doctor Octopus captures the Spider-Man, Harry finds out that his best friend, Peter Parker, is indeed the Spider-Man.
He starts hating his friend but doesn’t want to hurt him until he sees another hallucination of his father in a mirror. He wants to avenge the death of his father and becomes a modified version of Goblin.
After a short rivalry between them in the movie where they seriously damage each other’s lives, where Peter ends up having his relationship with Mary Jane destroyed and Harry with a heavily scarred face, they unite again to rescue Mary Jane when Venom and Sandman kidnap her. Harry’s butler finds out that his father died because of his actions, which makes Harry want to help Peter in rescuing Mary.
In the following action scene, Harry is stabbed to death by the Venom while he was trying to protect Peter.
No Spider-Man 4?
Sam Raimi later confessed that he was unhappy with the previous movie, Spider-Man 3 because he was forced to add in too many villains. He only wanted to use Sandman as the villain, but Sony wanted to use Venom and was well-liked by the fans. Having Goblin and Doctor Octopus as well made the movie too saturated.
For the next part, Raimi said they failed to put together a script he was happy with, before the deadline. He had begun working with Zodiac writer James Vanderbilt, but they consistently hit a wall while trying to finalize the villains and what’s best for the movie.
In the end, they decided not to go ahead with the movie, and the production house starts their work for a reboot.
