Romance drama web series Virgin River is based on the Virgin River novels by Robyn Carr. Sue Tenney developed it under the production by Reel World Management. The first season she was released on Netflix on December 6, 2019. In the same month, it was renewed for a second season with ten episodes.
The story follows Mel, who takes the offer of working as a nurse practitioner in Virgin River, a remote town in California. She believes that it will be a perfect place to start again, leaving behind her painful memories. But soon she discovers that not everything about the town is as rosy as it seems. She must let go of her inhibitions to make Virgin River her home truly.
When will the second season of the Virgin River release? Who will be there in the cast?
We do not have any confirmed date of release for the second season. What we do know is that it was intended to be released in 2020.
But that was before You Know What. It seems that the show will face delays due to the pandemic because filming was put on hold.
It is quite inevitable that many of the Season 1 cast will reprise their roles. Alexandra Breckenridge, who plays Mel, will return. We will also see Colin Lawrence as John Middleton, Joey Cooper as Jenny Cooper, Lauren Hammersley as Charmaine Roberts, Annette O’Toole as Hope McCrea, and Tim Matheson as Vernon Mullins.
It was confirmed in June 2020 that Ben Hollingsworth, who plays the deceptive former mariner Dan Brady, would be upgraded to series regular in Season 2. This means he will have a more significant role to play in the next season.
How did Mel’s husband die?
Mel’s husband had died in a car crash during a rainstorm. She has a nightmare about her husband’s death, but when she looks down at him, she finds Jack’s face instead. Mel admits to Joey that she likes Jack, but she has not moved on from her husband’s death. Hence she is not ready to get close to him.
What would be the plot be for Season 2?
The plot of season 2 will pick up from the means of Season 1. Mel’s heartbreaking past, coupled with Charmaine’s pregnancy, is bound to create issues for her. Her yield to Los Angeles should make her overlook her sorted lifestyle back in the Virgin River. Dan Brady’s return should also contribute to the plot of the upcoming season.
Since we don’t have a trailer or a teaser, we don’t have much to guess. It seems like we will have to wait for that!
