COVID-19 Test Results Hit 4.7% In Rockland County

New York City is already on a high in terms of active COVID-19 cases. Now, the concerns are raising further as the percentage of positive test results has hit 4.7% in Rockland County last Tuesday. The overall statewide positive rate of that day was 0.94 only. The tests conducted on Tuesday showed 63 positive results and 460 active cases were reported in Rockland on Wednesday.
Last week, Rockland had reported 272 COVID-19 positive cases. The cases rose up to 382 cases up to Tuesday this week. The information was shared on Facebook by Ed Day, Executive of Rockland County. He also adviced all to follow safety norms like wearing masks, handwashing frequently and maintain social distance.
The largest number of cases have been reported from Ramapo’s eastern region recently. Safety reminders have been issued in those regions last week by the Supervisor Michael Specht and community leaders in three languages, English, Spanish and Yiddish. They also gave masks to people from area stores. Besides, one more Covid testing center has been opened. Free testing will be done there from 9 a.m to 5 p.m.
This service is for all including those having insurance coverage and immigration status. The county is working in collaboration with the community leaders and others to make people aware so that further spread can be restricted, said John Lyon, spokesperson of Rockland County. They are working towards informing and educating people on the precautions to be taken.
Monsey and Spring Vally saw 150 and 160 active cases respectively, informed the Department of Health of Rockland County. 33% population of Rockland live in these two ZIP codes and these areas have reported 67% of total number of active cases in the county.
