Evangelion 4.0 or Evangelion 3.0+0.1 is an upcoming Japanese animation based on science-fiction directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki, Hideaki Anno (The producer and the screenplay writer), and Katsuichi Nakayama. This outstanding anime creation is a production by Studio Kahara along with the distributors Toei, Toho, and Khara company. Basically, this anime is based on the famous series “Neon Genesis Evangelion,” by Hideaki Anno from 1995-1996. However, the next upcoming fourth film is expected to be the finale in the Rebuild of Evangelion tetralogy.
Evangelion 4.0 Release Date
Although, the former third part “Evangelion 3.0” was released in the year 2012. While, the finale or the fourth film “Evangelion 3.0+0.1 Thrice Upon a Time,” has been announced with the third one. However, the first two parts were significant and pretty hit on a commercial basis. Anno has been really held by the making of “Shin Godzilla” and due to this, the production of “Thrice Upon a Time” got delayed.
Nonetheless, the production got resumed by April 2017. While in June 2019, Khara organized the screening of the first 10 minutes of this film in Paris at the Japan Expo. And apart from all the hurdles in the way, the production finally schedules the movie for January 23, 2021.
Evangelion 4.0 Upcoming Updates
As it’s clear, the announcement for “Evangelion 3.0+0.1 Thrice Upon a Time” was made along with the release of the third film in 2012. But, the third film faced various production problems, Anno went through depression and that was really a tough time to get through. And this made the film more delayed. Besides, Anno got the offer for the Godzilla remake, “Shin Godzilla” which makes Evangelion 4.0 more delayed.
The film was officially started shooting on April 5th, 2017. Later, in May 2018 many jobs were hired for the VFX, 3DCG, and 2D animation. Then after the screening of the first 10 minutes of the film by Khara. It was clear that the finale is going to be a blast with all combinations of the previous films of Evangelion.
However, due to the global pandemic, the shooting and production got more delayed. And due to these obstacles, the film got very much delayed from the originally scheduled date. But, at last, the film got its release date by late January 2021.
