What Is The Lincoln Project?
The Lincoln project is a committee formed by American republic politicians who opposed Donald Trump’s presidential capabilities. It was formed in 2019, to invalidate the re-election candidacy of the former president Donald Trump for the 2020 election.
Moreover, as the name seems familiar “Lincoln”, is taken after the former president of the United States Abraham Lincoln. The name was suggested after him, as the project follows his ideologies and vision closely. Likewise, Abraham Lincoln fought to keep the nation united. The Lincoln Project members seemed to have the same mindset.
According to their wording, they claimed Donald trump to be unfit for the presidency. As he handled the COVID-19 pandemic unwisely. They didn’t want him to be re-elected though they belong to the same party. So they decided to march against him being the next elected president.
Meanwhile, the Lincoln Project members openly supported Joe-Biden’s Nominations the next president of America. Even if he was from the opposite party and it meant for the democratic party to takeover for upcoming years.
Members Of The Project
Initially, the Lincoln project was begun in 2019 by the Republican former or current party members. The names included George Conway, Steve Schmidt, John Weaver, Rick Wilson, Jennifer Horn, Ron Steslow, Reed Galen, and Mike Madrid.
Further, followed by them were Advisors- Kurt Bardella (until Feb. 12, 2021), Rachel Bitecofer, Sally Canfield, Zack Czajkowski, Susan Del Percio, Molly Jong-Fast, Sarah Lenti, Windsor Mann, Tom Nichols (until Feb. 12, 2021), Tara Setmayer, John Sipher, Michael Steele, Stuart Stevens, Jeff Timmer, Chris Vance, Fred Wellman.
Donald Trump Vs Lincoln Project
The project started as a campaign against Trump, by putting posters, tweets, and videos on social media platforms. The campaign took an actual turn when the video posted by them got viral and got over a million viewership. It was posted under the title “Mourning in America”. The video contained the content against Donal Trump’s unwisely handled presidency and lack of leadership.
The video ended with the direct question from American citizens if they wanted the upcoming four years to be the same. Subsequently, after the viral video, Donald Trump passed out the tweet calling out it to be a disgrace and titling them “RINO Republicans”.
Many opined trumps behavior aggressive. Instead of handling the economic situation, he reacted opposite by insulting and going after other Republicans. Furthermore, these heavy dialogues continued over the months between Trump and Republicans.
Reason For Lincoln Project Failure
One of the main reasons is the turnout of the Project. The video didn’t influence as many Americans in the support of Joe Biden. Moreover, according to the research republicans gained more votes than they did in the last election. It also comes out, many voters didn’t even saw the advertisement or the videos.
Some also claimed that the project wasted their money on the videos/ content, instead of reasonably convincing people. In fact, Donald Trump gains many white people votes.
It turns out they did not do much to change voters’ minds. In fact, the ads weren’t put on much of the areas. Likewise, they were just going against trump instead of actually making change. Their expenditures were told to be not enough in the Georgia senate voting. Later on the year, many republicans retired and left, though many also joined.
However, the whole Lincoln Project was marked to be a gift.
