SpaceX Accepts Dogecoin As Payment For Lunar Mission To The Moon; GEC Said Launch Will Be In 2022

Elon Musk, a man who can do anything. He named his son X Æ A- Xii, something from a robot movie. Clearly, he truly thinks out of this world, even space. This 49-year old founder of SpaceX has recently decided to send a missile named Doge-1 to the moon. Particularly the most interesting part is that investment for this mission will be in Dogecoin Cryptocurrency. I bet you all are as confused as I am. So What is Dogecoin? Who started it? When is this Mission going to be executed? Let’s find out. 

What Is Dogecoin?

This was started when two IT guys named Jackson Plamer and Billy Markus developed this cryptocurrency as sort of a joke. Perhaps, Little did they know their cryptocurrency would fund a lunar mission worth multi-billion dollars. The face of Dogecoin is a dog named Shiba Inu or popularly known as a dog from the “Doge” meme. Although Dogecoin was developed in the year 2013, it came in the buzz recently due to the news of SpaceX lunar mission Doge-1. 

More About The Mission And Its Purpose

Geometric Energy Corporation green-lit this mission by agreeing to use Dogecoin as a payment option. The satellite that is going to be used is Falcon 9, a mini-satellite that just weighs about 40 kilograms. Furthermore, Corporation has already locked the deal by accepting Dogecoin as a form of token money. We can expect even future lunar missions and projects to be funded by Dogecoin as a mode of payment.

The motive of this mission is to figure out the application of Dogecoin beyond the earth’s surface and pave the way for future interspace transactions. Everyone in the SpaceX department is excited about this project. Moreover,  Elon even quoted “literal Dogecoin on the literal moon.”

Why Dogecoin As A Mode Of Payment?

Dogecoin is a great, quick, and authentic source of commerce for conventional banks and it is advanced enough to sponsor a multi-billion lunar mission. Therefore it is selected as the mode of payment for space missions to Mars and the Moon. However, Dogecoin lost its market value ever since Elon showed up in SNL on May 8th.
