As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Daniel Brühl (‘Captain America: Civil War’) and Macaulay Culkin (‘Changeland’) will star alongside the previously announced Rosamund Pike (‘I Care a Lot’) in the upcoming pandemic thriller, ‘Rich Flo’. The film comes from the director of ‘El Hoyo’, Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia and the Chilean producer Pablo Larraín (‘Spencer’), in a shooting that will begin at the end of this coming fall. In the film, a strange disease wipes out some of the richest and most influential people on the planet. First there were the billionaires, then the millionaires and so on… Until he threatens to hit anyone who has any kind of fortune. With the entire planet in a panic, people are trying to flood the market with assets that the world no longer wants. The film asks how far people might go to save their skins when the wealth that made the world go round suddenly becomes its most dangerous commodity. “‘Rich Flu’ is an immense physical film, full of twists, obstacles and surprises,” Gaztelu-Urrutia said earlier in a statement. “But above all, it is a complex and provocative emotional journey into the depths of the human soul and the pinnacles of our glorious self-indulgence. Only an artist with the courage and intelligence of Rosamund Pike could bring this film to life.” The Spanish filmmaker will direct the film from a script that he has co-written with Pedro Rivero, with whom he already collaborated on the aforementioned ‘El hoyo’. The film will be produced by Fabula by Pablo and Juan de Dios Larraín, Nostromo Pictures by Adrián Guerra and Núria Valls and Basque Film by Carlos Juárez together with Albert Soler and Gaztelu-Urrutia himself.
