Netflix did officially announce in September of 2019 that Season 4 is in the works. Their official post said, “We’re not in Hawkins anymore”. This has given rise to rumors of the show heading to new places. Last season also left many questions unanswered.

When is the release?

Remember when we told you that we may have to wait a while. Well, Season 4 may only be released in late 2020 or early 2021. This isn’t quite a surprise considering the fact that there was a considerable gap between the previous seasons. The earliest we can hope is December 2020.

Are there new cast members?

There isn’t any news regarding any new faces that may show up. But all the main cast members will undoubtedly be there. Some of the main roles are portrayed by Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, Winona Ryder, Gaten Matarazzo and Finn Wolfhard who are all expected to return.

However, we’re not so sure about some of the characters on the show. In the season finale, a heartbreaking scene saw Billy killed. Dacre Montgomery plays Billy in the series and we don’t know if he’ll be returning. Another extremely sad death was that of Hopper. We did saw the explosion that is presumed to have killed Hopper but there are speculations of him returning.

What will we find out?

Season 4 may answer several questions including Hopper’s fate and the mysterious American we saw in the finale. Also, how did the Russians capture a Demogorgon? There’s also the possibility of the show moving out of Hawkins.  Co-showrunner, Matt duffer told EW that the story would move, “into areas outside of Hawkins”.

Rose Duffer added, “It’s going to feel very different than this season. But I think that’s the right thing to do and I think it’ll be exciting”. Well, we can’t wait!
