Apple to Distribute Steve McQueen’s Next Movie ‘Blitz’

In a highly competitive situation, Apple has prevailed in the fight for worldwide distribution of ‘blitz’, the upcoming movie written and directed by Steve McQueen. It is a choral story that follows several Londoners during the bombings carried out by Nazi Germany on the United Kingdom in 1940 and 1941, in the midst of World War II. McQueen will also produce the film through his Lammas Park alongside Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title Films and Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan and Michael Schaefer of New Regency, a company with which the British filmmaker already collaborated on ’12 Years a Slave’. ‘ and ‘Widows’. Its filming is planned for the end of this year, once McQueen finishes the production of ‘Occupied City’, a documentary film by A24, Film Four and (again) New Regency that takes place in the city of Amsterdam before and during (again) World War II. The last work we saw from McQueen was ‘Small Axe’the wonderful anthology of five BBC films that we were able to see in Spain, at the beginning of 2021, by Movistar Plus+ (and whose reviews you can already read at the end of this news).

‘blitz’ It is the last important acquisition of Apple, a company that we will remember in the coming months to release long-awaited films such as ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ (by Martin Scorsese), ‘Argylle’ (by Matthew Vaughn) or ‘Napolen’ (by Ridley Scott) , among other.
