Has begun in New Orleans the production of‘Lisa Frankenstein’, a Focus Features horror film that will star Kathryn Newton and Cole Sprouse. Via Deadline we have learned that completing its cast will be Carla Gugino, Filipino-American actress Liza Soberano, Joe Chrest and Henry Eikenberry. The film will mark the directorial debut for Zelda Williams, who will direct the film from a screenplay by Oscar-winner Diablo Cody (‘Juno,’ ‘Tully’). The film will be set in 1989 and will follow an unpopular high school student who accidentally reanimates a handsome Victorian corpse during an electrical storm and begins to rebuild him into the man of her dreams…using a broken tanning bed in her garage. . Cody herself will produce the film along with Mason Novick, with Jeff Lampert serving as executive producer and Focus Features vice president of production and development Michelle Momplaisir serving as creative executive.
