American Gods Season 3 is a go. Starz announced only one episode into American Gods Season 2. That the adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s beloved novel will be getting a third season. This is good news for anyone who is into mesmerizing visuals and fantastical commentary on today’s sociopolitical status quo. Also, for anyone who wants to see this full story brought to the screen. While the second season itself was hit and miss. It’s good to know we’ll get more of the story on screen before it all wraps up.
Release Date:
We got the first season way back in April 2017. Finally, in March 2019, we got the second season.
Seeing as the reason for that delay was an unholy convergence of events that seem to have been finally sorted out. We’d expect season three to land on a more normal broadcast schedule. We’ll get the next season next year.
That said, we’d expect it to land closer to summer than spring, with the air date timeline shifting to June, July or later.
Cast:
We’d expect this to stay a bit more consistent too. Ricky Whittle as Shadow Moon, Ian McShane as Mr Wednesday, Emily Browning as Laura Moon, Crispin Glover as Mr World and Bruce Langley as the Technical Boy.
We’ll also hope to see more from Yetide Badaki as Bilquis, Orlando Jones as Mr Nancy, Mousa Kraish as The Jinn, Omid Abtahi as Salim and Demore Barnes as Mr Ibis.
Plot:
This season follows Shadow as he attempts to break away and assert himself as his own man, setting down roots in the idyllic snowy town of Lakeside, Wisconsin, where he’ll uncover a dark secret while exploring questions of his own divinity. Guided on this spiritual journey by the gods of his black ancestors, the Orishas, Shadow must decide exactly who he is—a god seeking veneration or a man in service of the “we.”

Expect some sort of teaser at San Diego Comic-Con in July, with a longer look at New York Comic-Con in October.
The Comic-Con circuit is hugely important to this show, so we’d expect to see footage sooner rather than later.
Orlando Jones is also set to make his comeback as Mr Nancy, according to the sources.
