The most-watched debut season ever on Netflix, The Witcher got approval for season two much earlier than season one even released. The American fantasy drama series produced by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich has been a record-breaking show. And rightly so! With Henry Cavill’s powerful charisma and a little bit of dark humor, the show’s a lot more than just entertaining!
Based on a book of the same name, it stars the always charming Henry Cavill (obviously) as solitary monster hunter Geralt of Rivia. Freya Allan as Cintran princess Ciri and Anya Chalotra as sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg are also the lead characters.
Plot
Set in an entirely different and fictional world known as the Continent, it follows the story of the three main characters. It further emphasizes how their fate is connected to each other.
Interestingly, the culture depicted in the show is a mix of fantasy elements from the Renaissance and the Middle Age. Season one consisted of a total of eight episodes that were released on the 20th of December 2020.
Geralt of Rivia aka The Witcher!
The main character of the show, played by Henry Cavill is Geralt of Rivia. A monster hunter with dreamy eyes and gigantic arms! He’s struggling to find his place in a world where more than often people are wicked than beasts.
Given the show’s popularity, an animated Netflix film about a new witcher story is on its way!
Although no official release date has been confirmed yet, Netflix has officially declared that it’ll deliver an animated witcher movie! It’s called The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, and it’s going to focus on a new threat to the Continent.

Thankfully, The Witcher team, including Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, is working on it! So a fantastic storyline and even better fighting scenes are guaranteed. Furthermore, not a lot about the story is revealed, but it will be about someone you heard a little bit about in the finale!
The Witcher: Nightmare of the wolf is going to follow the origin story for Vesemir. Vesemir is Geralt’s mentor and father figure. Not only is he Geralt’s mentor but he’s also the oldest and most experienced witcher at Kaer Morhen.
Kaer Morhen is an ancient keep that creates and trains professional monster hunters. His age has never been apparent, but he’s mentioned several times throughout the novels.
The Witcher season one is currently streaming on Netflix, in case you want to binge-watch!
