It’s official now :’All at once everywhere‘ has overtaken ‘Diamonds in the Rough’ as the highest-grossing A24 film in US history. Its estimated gross is $52.26 million (always) and counting. In its ninth weekend, the film has grossed 3.14 million in 1,576 theaters, just 5.5% less than it grossed in the eighth. A great maintenance driven by word of mouth that is making it one of the great successes of the year. What seems not to be ‘Menu‘, a film also from A24 that this weekend reached a total of 2,212 North American cinemas. In its first weekend in theaters, it has grossed little more than the Daniels’ film in its ninth, 3.29 million. Considering that it’s the kind of controversial film that completely divides the audience and that its Cinemascore has been a D+, it’s more than possible that its final gross is no better than ‘Fire Eyes‘ and stay with the desire to exceed 10 million. Heads and tails for A24. The other premiere of the week does not seem to be a success either, ‘Downton Abbey: A New Age‘, which has grossed $16 million from 3,820 theaters, roughly half of what the first installment grossed in September 2019 (from about 800 fewer theaters). While the first one was a commercial surprise, this second one is being a disappointment, since everything indicates that it will raise a third of what that one raised, having cost twice as much. Will there be a third? In the age of streaming, anything is possible. It continues to be the best premiere of a film distributed by Focus Features since the pandemic began. For your part ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘ continues to lead both the Spanish box office (at one of its lowest moments since the start of the pandemic) and the North American box office while waiting for the premiere of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ next week. The production of Marvel Studios exceeds the barrier of 800 million worldwide the same weekend in which ‘Uncharted‘ exceeds that of 400. As for the sequel again starring Tom Cruise, it is estimated that in its first weekend in theaters in the United States it will gross at least 100 million, becoming in any case the best opening of a film starring the last great Hollywood star above ‘The War of the Worlds’, with 64 million in 2005. The film co-starring Miller Teller will have until June 10, the day on which ‘Jurassic World’ will be released. : Dominion’, to reign as comfortably as Doctor Strange has. Then it will be the turn of Pixar’s big return, ‘Lightyear’, and shortly after… Marvel, Marvel again with ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’. Next week, by the way, will also premiere ‘Bob’s Burgers the movie‘, although it won’t do it in Spain, a country where everything points to it being released directly on Disney+…
