After a prolonged wait by fans Resident Evil is finally happening and here’s everything we know about it.
Is it renewed or cancelled
Resident Evil is indeed happening and will be out on Netflix by 2022. The upcoming Netflix series is based upon survival horror video game developed and released by Capcom originally for the PlayStation in 1996. The game’s plot follows Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, members of an elite task force known as S.T.A.R.S., as they investigate the outskirts of Raccoon City following the disappearance of their team members. They soon become trapped in a mansion infested with zombies and other monsters.
Rumours about its future
It was revealed that the series is still going on with its pre-production stage. While the shooting will begin in April 2020, before the main shoot between June and October 2020. The series as previously expected will be filmed in South Africa.
Constantin Germany is handling the production of the series and about eight episodes are set to make up the first season with distribution rights with Screen Gems. The franchise has progressively collected $1.2 billion worldwide to date and ranks as the highest-grossing film series ever which is based on a video game.
Upcoming Details About Next Season
The synopsis for the coming Resident Evil Netflix Original series was leaked online. And it was apparently uploaded by mistake to the Netflix Media Center where it was spotted and promptly leaked to the public which further confirmed the series to be an adaptation of popular video game. The synopsis read as follows:
“The town of Clearfield, MD has long stood in the shadow of three seemingly unrelated behemoths – the Umbrella Corporation, the decommissioned Greenwood Asylum, and Washington, D.C. Today, twenty-six years after the discovery of the T-Virus, secrets held by the three will start to be revealed at the first signs of an outbreak.”
