Norwegian-language drama series Ragnarok released on the 31st of January 2020. Right after its release, the show was compared to the twilight saga. Starring David Stakston as Magne and Ylva Bjørkaas Thedin as Isolde, Magne’s activist friend the show is quite eccentric.
Consisting of a total of six episodes the show draws inspiration from Norse mythology. Furthermore, many characters are descendants of jötunns which is from Norse mythology. Set in a fictional town, that’s plagued by the pollution because of industries and climate change, Adam Price writes the show.
Magne, a teen who returns to the fictional town of Edda in Norway after many years. Soon a young environmentalist dies as he spots a mysterious tunnel. Then, Magne begins to find answers and realizes that he’s not like others; there’s something different about him.
Since he claims to have physical abilities that make him different from the locals, most of the people in that think that he’s dealing with mental problems. Soon, he’s diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic.
The cast of season one included Jonas Strand Gravli as Laurits, Magne’s brother, Theresa Frostad Eggesbø as Saxa, Herman Tømmeraas as Fjor and Emma Bones as Gry. Bjørn Sundquist as Wotan, Gísli Örn Garðarsson as Vidar, Odd-Magnus Williamson as Erik Synnøve Macody as Ran are also included.
Season Two Renewal
Unfortunately, Netflix hasn’t confirmed Ragnarok for season two yet. Having said that, it’s only been a few days since season one released. Season one did not receive a lot of critical acclaim, especially in Norway. As Netflix waits for at least two to three weeks to renew any new show for other seasons, hope’s still alive.
Release Date
If Ragnarok does get renewed season two, probably a total of six new episodes will be produced by the end of this year. So, there’s a good chance season two will release in January 2021.
